Children's Story
hour.
The Towanda District Library
has a weekly Monday morning pre-school story hour at 11:00. Pre-school Story Hours run from
first Monday after Labor Day to the Monday prior to Memorial Day.
Pre-schoolers may participate in the
Summer Reading Program on Wednesday mornings during the summer. Open
enrollment allows you to register your child whenever they turn three -
by stopping in at the library or by calling 728-2176.
Summer Reading Program.
Each year the library presents a Summer Reading Program designed to
preserve the reading skills of our young readers.
Studies
suggest that children who read as few as six books over the summer
maintain the level of reading skills they achieved during the preceding
school year. Reading more books leads to even greater success.

Weekly programs at the
Towanda District Library provide engaging, interactive performances,
community speakers, craft projects, games, readers’ theater, and reading
challenges. Each Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. Joanna Ranninger and
Karen Bersche provide a variety of age-appropriate programs for youth -
ages 3 to 6 years and 7 to 12 years.
Open enrollment allows
children to join the fun anytime during the 6-week program – June 17
through July 22, 2009. The theme for the 2009 Summer Reading
Program is:
