Volunteers

Book Sale Volunteers, July 4, 2005

Our volunteers do many valuable things for the library.

We have volunteers who help with our library grounds, both inside and out.  Bernice Gilchrist takes care of all of the library's indoor plants and provides the library with seasonal decorations; Marsha DeMay waters and weeds the flowers and shrubs outside during the summer; and Pat Polukas, who among other things, coordinates the 4-H library gardening and cleanup days.

We have volunteers who faithfully do many general tasks for the library, including the processing of library materials, computer inputting, card catalog filing, and many other tasks.  These wonderful volunteers include Beverly Meginnes, Shirley Herman and Susie Shoemaker.

We have volunteers who provide us with very particular services:  Margie and Roy Redding deliver books to homebound patrons monthly, Tina Krause covers book jackets, Helen Mogill created and authors this website, and Neil Sallee did much of our accounting in the past year.

We offer a great deal of thanks to our board members, who guide the library and who give many hours over the years to the library:  Tim Mogill, President, Mary Ann Boyd, Vice-President, DeAnna Belz, Secretary, Mark Schwamberger, Treasurer, Margaret Egebrecht, Kathryn Nelson, and Rochelle Wardel.

We thank each and every volunteer mentioned and to the following who donate their time: the 4-H Busy Bees, the Lion's Club, the Boy Scouts, the Cub Scouts, our newsletter contacts (Gail Ann Briggs, Pat Pulokas, Vicky Hogan, Donna Coit), and other organizations for all that they give to the library and to this community.

Thanks to Beverly M., who volunteers here and
who got a State Farm Good Neighbors Grant for the
library, we now have a new set of World Book
Encyclopedias!    December, 2005

Every year the Towanda District Library hosted a volunteer appreciation event for the library's nearly 20 volunteers.  The following photos are from April, 2002.
