The Towanda District Library (TDL) is committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all library users. The TDL Library offers many materials and services for patrons with disabilities and is in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY
The Library’s public PCs offer Windows’ Ease of Access accessibility options, which include a magnifier, text-to-speech functionality, larger on-screen keyboards, high-contrast viewing modes, and other ways to personalize your experience. To quickly open Ease of Access, Use the Window key and [U].
Magnifying glasses can be requested at the Service Desk.
LIBRARY MATERIALS
Large Print Collection
We offer a wide variety of books with larger font for easier reading. Our large print collection is located on the exterior wall east of the circulation desk.
You can also browse the large print collection in the library’s catalog.
eLibrary (Digital Collection)
Free digital content can be checked out from anywhere at any time with your library card.
Some of the features of these digital resources include:

Text resizing and zoom options
Additional Formats
The library also offers DVDs and Blu-rays with closed captions and subtitles as well as instructional sign language materials.
OTHER RESOURCES
Illinois Assistive Technology Program (IATP)
The Illinois Assistive Technology Program has been working to increase access to and acquisition of assistive technologies for Illinois residents since 1989. Requesting an existing product or a customized device specific to your needs is free for all Illinois residents with disabilities and/or health-related conditions.
National Library Service at the Library of Congress
The National Library Service (NLS) is a free braille and talking book library service for people with temporary or permanent low vision, blindness, or a physical, perceptual, or reading disability that prevents them from using regular print materials.
Talking Book and Braille Service (TBBS)
The Illinois State Library offers this service via mail or digital download to any Illinois resident who is unable to read standard print material due to a permanent or temporary visual or physical disability. Visit the NLS for more information on eligibility guidelines.

Remote Assistance: Library staff are available for remote assistance via phone or email. View the library’s Contact Us page for details on contact information.
One-On-One Assistance: The library offers one-on-one help for topics such as eBooks and streaming services, computer skills, and more. Remote assistance is also available. Contact director@towandalibrary.org or 309-728-2176 for more information.
